So I can't emphasize enough that she needs to take it slow with new people :) But she will reward you for sure once you get to know her. Lilac's issues have happened in the past when her intros to new people coming into the home were not controlled. With the right family she will do just fine. Lilac has had a long road, and while she has come a long way, she is very much still a work in progress. Because of her reactivity to new people, a single family home is the best fit for her. ![]() When people she does not know come into the home, she can get vocal, but when introduced while muzzled she does fine. She is even very sweet to pretty much everyone while muzzled, so that's an easy fix to keep her safe. She needs to be slowly introduced to new people, but once she gets to know you very very well, she's all in and is the kissiest, snuggliest girl. When people that she does not know very very well come into the home, Lilac should be crated, leashed, or muzzled. Outside the home, and even a the vet, she is generally fine. Where Lilac still struggles greatly is with meeting new people in the home. so her perfect home would continue this training with her. For this reason, proper intros are a must with her. She can be leash reactive to new dogs, and though she has improved with training, this will always be something she needs to work on. Lilac is wonderful with other dogs when properly introduced, and she loves to play. We strive to ensure that all of our adoption and foster placements are the optimal fit for everyone involved.Lilac is a sweet, lazy girl who is looking for a quiet home where she can play some fetch and then curl up in the dog bed and take a nap (her two favorite things). All of our dogs nurtured and cared for in foster homes throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. We are entirely foster-based and do not have a physical shelter. Our team of volunteers works tirelessly providing love and care in foster homes, processing adoption applications, hosting adoption events, and ensuring that each dog is placed within a stable, loving adoptive home. LHK9 is completely run by volunteers with no paid staff or board members. After a mandatory 48-hour quarantine stay and an additional health clearance, each dog is picked up and fostered by a northern foster family who serves as a gateway to his/her adoptive home, affectionately known as a FURever home. While in foster, each dog receives love, care, and medical treatment, then receives a health clearance and transports to New England. As the literal "last hope" of the dogs we serve, our southern fosters pull dogs and puppies from partner shelters in Arkansas. g medical conditions, or breed, because every dog deserves to know love. We are dedicated to saving abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs from high-kill shelters in Central Arkansas and beyond.
